Installation and Configuration. Installation and Configuration. Before you install Autodesk Revit 2016, close all applications. Install or Uninstall may fail if content is on a shared network location using a mapped drive. When installing or uninstalling, the procedure may fail if content had been redirected to a shared network location using a mapped drive. To prevent this error set the User Access Control in the Windows Control Panel to Never Notify. Custom Folder in Deployments. In the Autodesk Revit 2016 Deployment Wizard, the Path for Configurable Folders allows you to specify a custom folder in which to copy support content. If you specify a folder location that has Read Only permission at the user level according to the Microsoft Windows User Access Control, then Autodesk Revit may become unstable. To avoid this, ensure that you have Write permission on your Microsoft Windows machine when creating your deployment with the Custom Folder option. Single Share Folder Option for Deployment Images. When using the Single Shared Folder option to create a deployment image, specify a folder name to avoid creating an invalid deployment image. Do not leave the folder name as Shared folder path. Roaming Profiles in a Networked Environment. It is recommended that Autodesk Revit is installed from the same deployment when installing to multiple computers in a networked environment. This ensures each user's roaming profile is properly initialized when the user logs into different servers. If a non-deployment install is utilized to configure multiple servers, each user's roaming profile settings are restored to the default values as the user logs into different servers. To resolve this, use these steps. 1. On the first server, locate the file in the folder: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ product \UserDataCache. The product subfolder will be one of the following. 2. Copy the InstallGUID value. For example: InstallGUID. 3. On each of the other servers in the network, locate the file and replace the InstallGUID value with the value copied from the first server. Join the Customer Involvement Program. You are invited to help guide the direction of Autodesk design software. If you participate in the Customer Involvement Program (CIP), specific information about how you use Autodesk Revit is forwarded to Autodesk. This information includes what features you use the most, problems that you encounter, and other information helpful to the future direction of the product. See the following links for more information. Learn more about the Autodesk Customer Involvement Program. Read the Autodesk Privacy Statement. When you join, you will be able to view reports that can help you optimize your use of Autodesk Revit. To turn the CIP on or off. 1. On the InfoCenter toolbar, to the right of the Help button, click the drop-down arrow. 2. Click Customer Involvement Program. 3. In the Customer Involvement Program dialog box, select Yes to start or No to stop participating. System Requirements. The first task you need to complete is to make sure that your computer meets the minimum system requirements. If your system does not meet these requirements, problems can occur, both within Autodesk Revit and at the operating system level. Feature Limitations and Notes. In Autodesk Revit 2014 and previous releases, the program and content files were installed as part of a single installation package. For Autodesk Revit 2016, the installation of content files has been broken out into a separate installation package, Autodesk Revit Content Libraries 2016. Program related installation settings, including desktop shortcut, discipline, UK terminology, and project path, remain part of the original Autodesk Revit 2016 installation package while content related installation settings, including content packs, default content, and configurable folders, are now associated with the new Autodesk Revit Content Libraries 2016 installation package. The Autodesk Revit Content Libraries repair process will not restore missing content files. If you need to restore missing content files, running the Autodesk Revit Content Libraries reinstall process will accomplish this goal. If the default content setting is modified through the Revit Content Libraries add or remove features process, the UserDataCache and user profile copies of the file are not updated to reflect this change. Running the Autodesk Revit repair process ensures that both copies of the file are updated to reflect the new default content selection. Refer to the online Autodesk Revit 2016 Release Notes document for details on the customer incidents resolved within this release. Product Removal. To uninstall Autodesk Revit 2016. 1.
